Limitations or restraints in adoption to organic from traditional food, both in terms of farming, consumption and commercialization



Major Problems and Constraints for Organic Farming
Lack of Awareness:
The inability of government policymakers to take a firm decision to promote organic farming. But people are less aware of organic farming and food. Lack of knowledge and availability are the major problem in the adaptation of Organic farming and food. The adaptation of organic food is one of the fastest-growing in the markets. But the household purchases of organic food do not reach the people because people are not aware of the benefits of organic food. Lack of visibility affects consumer awareness of organic food. New research suggested countries like the US & European nations adopted organic farming products at the fastest level. Developing a nation’s growth rate of organic farming as low as compared to the developed nation because of knowledge educations limited agricultural school's college farming institutions. Government failure agricultural schemes also affect organic farming in these countries.

Expensive in nature:
Traditional farming is cost-effective, whereas organic food is more expensive may cost up to 40% more compare to traditional farming. Farmers are getting the problem of capital and suitable land for organic farming. Organic food supply is limited as compared to demand, so it affects the price of organic food post-harvest handling in small quantities of organic foods. It also affects the price higher and also increases the production cost and transportation. Substitute’s labor and intensive management chemicals. Traditional farmers use all those chemicals and synthetic pesticides which reduce the cost of production whereas organic farmers have to hire more workers for hand wheeling clean up polluted water & remediation of pesticide contamination which affects organic farming expensive. Traditional farming needs low capital of the fund. Organic farming takes more workers and labor which may occur the cost of production higher. High workers affect the production cost of organic food.

Issues in Marketing and Distribution: 
The adaptation of organic food is promoted by the government, but a lacking amount of funds affects the distribution & marketing of organic foods. Production and supply are facing some unique challenges to the cost and logistics of moving locally or regionally produced organic farming food to market. Longer scale farming is stability by economies of scale while small scale farming affects the higher price. Distribution to reach restaurants food retail is not convent because they are bend towards traditional farming products, lack of limited supply of organic farming food. Since organic farming foods have entered into the mainstream market, some retail outlets channels distributing organic foods but major are prefer traditional foods. Traditional retail is focused on profit but the limited supply of organic food is the reason retailer is more prefer traditional food instead of organic food.

Scarcity of Resources: 
Farmers cant produces a large number of organic foods that fulfill the need to survive the population of the world. About 1-3% of the world’s food is produced with organic methods. The growth of organic farming increases rapidly but the major concerns are the limited resource to produces organic farming. Framer across the countries is struggling to keep the high demands of organic food. Research suggested 80% of Americans families are choosing organic foods in the grocery & retail outlets. Higher the demand and limited supply of organic farming is the problem to fulfill the demand of organic food. Farmers are facing the problem of workers and knowledge skills to produces the organic food. US are the world’s largest producers & exporters of Corn & Soya bean but the organic supplies of these products are limited due to the scarcity of resources.
